Dress Giveaways

Every year, The Princess Project collects fashionable, new (2002 to new), or nearly new prom dresses and accessories and organizes everything in one location: our Dress Giveaway event.

We welcome all high school girls who are in financial need of a prom dress. No proof of financial need is required, just a valid high school ID. Simply attend the event and walk out with a dress and accessories that you love— all for free!

Please note: Dress Giveaways are on a first come, first served basis. So get there early to make sure you get a dress! Girls can line up starting at 7am.

How It Works: Steps to Sparkling

Step 1

On the day of one of our Dress Giveaway events, grab your 2008 - 2009 high school ID and head to the location of the event. (Find out date and location details on our Get a Dress page.) Check in at the door to receive a wristband with an appointment time on that same day.

Step 2

Come back to shop with a female guest (your BF, Mom, Grandma, cousin, whomever!). You will be required to check all bags, including purses in our secure Coat Check. At your scheduled appointment time, a Princess Project volunteer will guide you through our extensive dress selection. There will be hundreds of gowns in all sizes and styles, so you’ll have plenty of beautiful options from which to choose!

Step 3

Once you’ve tried on and selected a dress, we will help you find a complimentary accessory– from purses to boas to sparkling tiaras. Remember, all Princess Project gowns and jewelry are free.

Step 4

As you’re waving goodbye with tiara and taffeta in tow, don’t forget to grab a free goodie bag assembled by our sponsors. Write down any comments about your day with The Princess Project so that we can improve our dress giveaways every year!

After you have danced the night away at prom, keep in touch and email your prom stories and pictures of you in that fabulous dress to princessdiaries@princessproject.org.
